US seller fees use the US payment schedule
Use this page for a paid Etsy Payments order for a US seller using a USD payment account. It uses the US account processing schedule, rather than choosing fees from the buyer’s country. UK sellers need the separate GBP page, which has a different processing charge and a regulatory operating fee.
The supported US schedule includes US$0.20 per charged listing or renewal, a 6.5% transaction fee, and payment processing at 3% plus US$0.25 per order. No UK regulatory fee is applied. The official schedules were checked on 19 October 2026.
Marketplace sales tax is not seller revenue
Enter the item price after discounts, buyer-paid shipping and gift wrapping separately. These create the order revenue used for the transaction fee. Extra tax collected and remitted by Etsy is added to the buyer payment and processing base, but is excluded from seller revenue and the transaction-fee base in this US model.
If tax already embedded in your revenue must be remitted by you, enter a seller tax reserve. That amount is deducted for the profit estimate. Do not enter separately collected Etsy sales tax again as your reserve or treat it as earnings.
Any tax Etsy charges on its seller fees is a separate input. Enter the account or quoted amount, or zero where none applies. The page does not determine state tax obligations, seller nexus, exemption status, income tax or sales-tax rates.
Listing credits, ads and conversion charges
The number of units sold and the number of charged listings or renewals are separate inputs. Use zero allocated listing charges for an applicable credit; include the charges attributable to your chosen cost estimate without repeating a fee already allocated elsewhere.
An attributed Offsite Ads order may carry the quoted 12% or 15% fee, capped at US$100 for the order. This US fee base excludes separately collected sales tax. The calculator does not determine the shop’s threshold history or whether participation can be disabled. Check Etsy’s notice and select its rate.
Enter the sale amount subject to Etsy’s 2.5% conversion fee in account dollars, or zero where no conversion is required. A buyer choosing to see another currency does not alone mean the seller pays this fee. This input models the fee on the explicit entered base; it does not perform a live currency conversion.
Worked example: a US seller order
Use one item at $25, shipping charged of $3.50, one allocated listing charge, and no additional tax, ads or currency conversion. Order revenue and buyer payment are $28.50.
The rounded listing fee is $0.20, transaction fee $1.85 and processing fee $1.11. Total estimated fees are $3.16, leaving proceeds after Etsy fees of $25.34.
With product cost of $8 and actual postage and packaging of $3.50, business costs are $11.50. Estimated profit before income tax is $13.84 when no seller tax reserve or other allocated costs are entered.
Why the proceeds are not a guaranteed deposit
This is a standard paid-order planning estimate. An Etsy balance can also include reserves, refunds, prior fees, credits or other adjustments, and the payout schedule affects when funds reach the bank. The page does not forecast that settlement process.
Money inputs and fee lines are rounded half-up to cents so the displayed fee components add to the supported total. Taxes billed over a monthly period or an account-specific adjustment can differ. Check the actual statement before recording the charges in your accounts.
Profit also depends on the cost inputs. Include materials or production cost per unit and actual postage and packaging per order. Allocate labour, advertising or subscription costs consistently under other costs. A negative result is shown as a loss; a profit margin is not shown where all revenue has been reserved as seller tax.
Use the matching seller account page
The seller’s account country and fee schedule matter. The country links open a separate local calculator and reset the inputs, with no automatic conversion of entered order amounts.
For a UK pound seller account, use the UK Etsy fee calculator with its own payment-processing and tax guidance.
To explore a fee as a share of revenue, use the percentage calculator after identifying the correct fee base.
Inputs for the US Etsy fee calculator
Item price and units
Use the per-unit price after discounts. Include tax you are responsible for where already embedded in that price; units multiply both item price and product cost.
Buyer-paid shipping and gift wrap
These are revenue inputs. Enter actual postage and packaging separately as a business cost. Include paid personalisation in the item price.
Tax collected by Etsy
Enter only extra tax Etsy collects and remits, outside the item price. It increases payment processing and buyer payment, but does not become seller revenue.
Seller tax reserve
Use an amount already embedded in your order revenue that you must remit. This is not a tax-liability calculation. Do not repeat the tax collected separately by Etsy.
Product and fulfilment costs
Product cost is per unit. Postage, packaging and other allocated costs are per order. Choose a consistent VAT or tax cost basis from your own accounts.
Allocated listing charges
The default allocates one charged listing or renewal per unit sold. Choose Custom count / credit to allocate a different number, including zero where a listing credit applies. Avoid charging the same fee twice in your accounts.
Offsite Ads
Use Etsy’s quoted rate for the attributed order. None means no attributed ad fee. The calculator applies the per-order dollar cap and does not decide shop participation.
Converted sale amount
Enter the sale amount subject to the 2.5% fee in the page’s account currency. Zero means no conversion fee; this is separate from conversion of a USD listing charge.
Tax on seller fees
Use the dollar amount billed or quoted on your seller fees. The calculator does not infer a state rate or decide whether a state tax applies.
CALCULATOR QUESTIONS
Etsy fee calculator US questions
Are shipping charges subject to Etsy fees?
Buyer-paid shipping is part of the supported transaction and processing bases. Actual postage is a separate expense; entering one does not replace the other.
Why is tax collected by Etsy separate?
It can increase the buyer payment and processing fee while not belonging to the seller. Keeping it separate avoids counting it as profit or deducting it twice.
Does every order incur an Offsite Ads fee?
No. Use the rate Etsy applies to the attributed order, or select no attributed ad fee. The calculator applies the stated cap but does not decide eligibility or participation history.
Does this estimate every US state tax?
No. Enter tax billed on seller fees and any seller tax reserve explicitly. The page does not calculate state tax rates, nexus or income-tax liability.
Why can the statement differ by a penny?
This model rounds money and supported fee lines before adding them. Monthly tax invoices, actual exchange charges and account adjustments can use a different aggregation.
Does the profit result include income tax?
No. It subtracts only the supported fees, entered seller tax reserve and allocated business costs. It does not calculate personal or business income tax.
