UK Etsy fees and the account country
This page models a paid Etsy Payments order for a UK seller using a GBP payment account. The seller’s account location determines the payment-processing schedule; it is not chosen from the buyer’s location. The separate US page uses its own processing charges and tax guidance.
The supported UK charges are the 6.5% transaction fee, 4% plus £0.20 payment processing, and the 0.48% regulatory operating fee. Listing charges are US$0.20 each before conversion and applicable fee VAT. These published figures were checked on 19 October 2026.
Keep the different taxes separate
The item price is after discounts and includes any seller-responsible VAT already in that price. Shipping and gift wrapping charged to the buyer also form seller revenue. Extra tax collected and remitted by Etsy is entered separately: it increases the payment-processing base and buyer payment, but is not your revenue or proceeds.
VAT invoiced on seller fees is a different cost. The 20% option models VAT on the supported rounded fee subtotal. Select Not charged where that matches your Etsy invoice; submitting a valid VAT ID can change how Etsy bills these fees. This option does not decide VAT registration, input-tax recovery or reverse-charge accounting.
If part of your sale revenue is tax you must remit, enter that reserve separately. The calculator subtracts it when estimating profit, after showing proceeds after Etsy fees. Do not repeat tax already collected and remitted separately by Etsy in that reserve.
USD listing fees and the Offsite Ads cap
Etsy lists the listing fee and Offsite Ads cap in US dollars. Enter the GBP per US dollar quote relevant to your account charge. The default 0.75 is a fictional illustration, not a live or current market quote; it makes one US$0.20 listing charge £0.15 and the US$100 cap £75. Etsy’s actual conversion can differ.
Choose the number of charged listings or renewals allocated to this order, separately from units sold. That lets you account for multiple-item renewals, a previously paid charge or a free listing credit without charging one renewal twice. Unallocated listing and renewal costs still need to be included in your wider business accounts.
Use the Offsite Ads rate Etsy applies to the attributed order: none, 12% or 15%. The policy’s US$10,000 sales threshold and lifetime participation rules are not recalculated from a guessed annual revenue figure here. The fee is capped per attributed order. Buyer currency display alone does not trigger a seller currency-conversion fee.
Worked example: a UK seller order
Use one item at £25, buyer-paid shipping of £3.50, no gift wrap or extra tax, one listing charge and the illustrative 0.75 GBP per USD quote. Choose no Offsite Ads, no converted sale amount and 20% fee VAT. Order revenue is £28.50.
The rounded listing fee is £0.15, transaction fee £1.85, processing fee £1.34 and regulatory fee £0.14. Fee VAT is £0.70, giving total estimated fees of £4.18.
Estimated proceeds after those fees are £24.32. Product cost of £8 plus actual postage and packaging of £3.50 gives business costs of £11.50 and estimated profit before income tax of £12.82. This assumes no seller tax reserve and no other allocated costs.
Read proceeds and profit correctly
Proceeds after fees are an estimate for this order, not a promised bank deposit. Reserves, previous balances, refunds, credits, payout adjustments and deposit timing can change the payment you actually receive. The profit estimate also subtracts the entered seller tax reserve and your product, fulfilment and other allocated costs.
Enter the sale amount actually subject to Etsy’s 2.5% conversion charge, expressed in GBP, or zero where no conversion is needed. This is an explicit fee base; the tool does not obtain an exchange quote or guess which part of a settlement Etsy converted.
Money inputs and each supported fee line are rounded half-up to pennies, then fee VAT is applied to that rounded subtotal. Monthly VAT invoices, credits and actual exchange charges can create penny differences. Treat this as a planning estimate and reconcile it with your account statement.
Use the matching seller account page
The seller’s account country and fee schedule matter. The country links open a separate local calculator and reset the inputs, with no automatic conversion of entered order amounts.
For a US dollar seller account, use the US Etsy fee calculator with its own payment-processing and tax guidance.
To explore a fee as a share of revenue, use the percentage calculator after identifying the correct fee base.
Inputs for the UK Etsy fee calculator
Item price and units
Use the per-unit price after discounts. Include tax you are responsible for where already embedded in that price; units multiply both item price and product cost.
Buyer-paid shipping and gift wrap
These are revenue inputs. Enter actual postage and packaging separately as a business cost. Include paid personalisation in the item price.
Tax collected by Etsy
Enter only extra tax Etsy collects and remits, outside the item price. It increases payment processing and buyer payment, but does not become seller revenue.
Seller tax reserve
Use an amount already embedded in your order revenue that you must remit. This is not a tax-liability calculation. Do not repeat the tax collected separately by Etsy.
Product and fulfilment costs
Product cost is per unit. Postage, packaging and other allocated costs are per order. Choose a consistent VAT or tax cost basis from your own accounts.
Allocated listing charges
The default allocates one charged listing or renewal per unit sold. Choose Custom count / credit to allocate a different number, including zero where a listing credit applies. Avoid charging the same fee twice in your accounts.
Offsite Ads
Use Etsy’s quoted rate for the attributed order. None means no attributed ad fee. The calculator applies the per-order dollar cap and does not decide shop participation.
Converted sale amount
Enter the sale amount subject to the 2.5% fee in the page’s account currency. Zero means no conversion fee; this is separate from conversion of a USD listing charge.
GBP per US dollar quote
Enter the quote appropriate to your Etsy charges. The 0.75 default illustrates the method; it is not current FX data. The quote converts the USD listing fee and ad cap.
VAT invoiced on fees
Choose 20% charged to model VAT on the supported fee subtotal or Not charged where that matches your bill. This does not settle VAT registration, recovery or reverse-charge obligations.
CALCULATOR QUESTIONS
Etsy fee calculator UK questions
Are shipping charges subject to Etsy fees?
Buyer-paid shipping is part of the supported transaction and processing bases. Actual postage is a separate expense; entering one does not replace the other.
Why is tax collected by Etsy separate?
It can increase the buyer payment and processing fee while not belonging to the seller. Keeping it separate avoids counting it as profit or deducting it twice.
Does every order incur an Offsite Ads fee?
No. Use the rate Etsy applies to the attributed order, or select no attributed ad fee. The calculator applies the stated cap but does not decide eligibility or participation history.
Is 0.75 the current GBP/USD exchange rate?
No. It is an explicit illustrative quote for USD listing charges and the ad cap. Replace it with the quote relevant to your account. No live rate is fetched.
Why can the statement differ by a penny?
This model rounds money and supported fee lines before adding them. Monthly tax invoices, actual exchange charges and account adjustments can use a different aggregation.
Does the profit result include income tax?
No. It subtracts only the supported fees, entered seller tax reserve and allocated business costs. It does not calculate personal or business income tax.
