THE IDEA BEHIND FIGURE

WHY FIGURE EXISTS

A calculator collection

Figure is a calculator website, with finance, health, property, salary and everyday calculations organised by subject.

The collection includes mortgage, loan and bridging finance calculators, salary and take-home pay, and BMI and calorie calculators. Each calculator has its own calculation purpose.

Every calculator explains its inputs and method. Those that rely on published rates cite their sources and the date they were last reviewed.

CALCULATOR DESIGN PRINCIPLES

01

Clear calculator inputs

Make the next step obvious. Use familiar language, visible units and a layout that puts the task within reach.

02

Explained calculation methods

Give assumptions, methods and limitations a proper place. A useful number should never have to stand alone.

03

Financial and health context

Money and health deserve care. Explain uncertainty, make room for credible sources, and avoid promising what a tool cannot deliver.
