Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) rules
The LGPS is a statutory career average revalued earnings (CARE) scheme. In the main section, members accrue 1/49th (2.0408%) of their actual pensionable pay each year, revalued annually by CPI.
In the 50/50 section, members pay half their normal contribution rate to accrue 1/98th of pay, offering financial flexibility while maintaining full life assurance and ill-health protection.
Worked example: LGPS pension calculation
